“Music is my passion and its not about the money or fame for me because it makes me happy. I will never stop doing what I have to do to in order to be happy, by any means necessary” – Richie Nixxon
When you hear the name Richie Nixxon, most think of the thirty-seventh president of the United States and the infamous Watergate scandal. But this Richie Nixxon is far from being a crooked politician.
Richie Nixxon is a rapper out of Medina, Ohio who possesses all the talents to gain all the right votes to earn a seat in the rap world.
“Growing up I was always writing stuff down, always trying to chase that good buzz even before I realized my dreams of becoming a rapper,” said Nixxon.
Nixxon started writing rap music in the 10th grade because it gave him a good “buzz”about life.
Eventually Nixxon honed his writing skills through his demo, ‘Memoirs of a Crook.’ The demo spread through word of mouth and took a lot of people by surprise. The demo aimed him at taking music more seriously; he has hooked up with his manager Mike Hughes, who discovered his music through his roommate DJ Basak at Ohio University.
Nixxon claims to have the best fans in the world, from driving hours on end show after show, to making him custom Rich Nixxon Nike shoes.
“My people hold it the f*ck down... they come wylin at my shows and give me mad love all day, it keeps me motivated, and my movement strong,” said Nixxon.
He will be releasing his first mixtape, ‘Weight of the City,’ early next year. Nixxon said the mixtape will rep Ohio hard because he is a die hard Cleveland fan.
“The idea behind ‘Weight of the City’ is that it’s like my city been waiting for someone to put us on the map. I feel like it’s my duty to carry that out, listening to and creating music is my escape, so I’m here to share my passion and provide a similar outlet to anyone needing that escape…if only for the moment,” said Nixxon.
“I’m not trying to be on anyone’s dick, but cats like MGK, Chip and all Cleveland artists represent what I am all about…We on that underdog hustle,” said Nixxon.
Hip Hop Leak and Dirty Laces suggest you keep a look out for the release of the ‘Weight of the City,’ because you won’t be disappointed.
